The Jamieson Elementary Annex is COMPLETE!

The Jamieson Elementary Annex is Under Construction!

(Fall 2015)

JEFF is thankful for the leadership, hard work, and dedication of a number of people (past and present) in supporting the building of the Jamieson Elementary annex: Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Alderman Patrick O’Connor, the Chicago Board of Education, State Representative Greg Harris, State Senator Heather Steans, Congressman Michael Quigley, Kevin McCann (former principal), Principal Robert Baughman, Asst. Principal Susan Paik, Allison Chronis, Jennifer Cartland, Mary Regula (past LSC members), Joshua Freedland (current LSC chair) and many others. The addition will include a science lab, class rooms and a lunchroom.

Community Gardening Project

(Fall 2012)

Jamieson and J.E.F.F joined with US Green Building Council (USGBC)  – Illinois Chapter along with the Center for Green Schools for the Green Apple Day of School Service.   On Saturday, September 29, over 40 hardworking parents, teachers, and students spread six cubic yards of wood chips and planted a Bloodgood London Planetree and a Red Sunset Maple as well as maintain the  2,500 square foot area around Jamieson’s front entrance on the east side of the building. Urban Habitat Chicago and Asimow Landscaping provided assistance.

 

New Play Equipment

(Summer 2012)

New Play Equipment (Completed 2012) On February 28th , Groundbreakers, a group CPS High School Students who design and install playgrounds, conducted a meeting with JEFF, Jamieson Administration, Jamieson LSC & PAC, parents and community members to select new play equipment.The play equipment will be installed at the northwest corner of the campus and will be approximately 3,200 square feet. In mid-March Groundbreakers will present two designs to stakeholders for review and selection. The installation was completed in August 2012.

 

Community Gardening Project

(Spring 2012)

Jamieson and JEFF conducted our first community gardening project.  On Sunday, May 20, over 70 parents, teachers, and studensspread wood chips and install new plantings on the 2,500 square foot area around Jamieson’s front entrance on the east side of the building. Urban Habitat Chicago and Asimow Landscaping provided assistance.

 

New LED Marquee

(Completed 2011)

A state of the art color LED marquee was installed. The sign will allow better communications with the neighborhood and allow Jamieson to showcase activities.[/box]
